2007 Jeep Patriot Loaded With Radical Sound System Technologies - Autos

The Jeep brand has always been known for producing some of the best off-road vehicles ever as much as a Volvo rotor is known for their braking efficiency. They have time and time again raised the bar on what an off road vehicle should be. And with the 2007 Jeep Patriot, they have proven once again that they are one, if not the best, producers of compact sport utility vehicles.

The Jeep Patriot is dubbed as the most capable vehicle in its class, thanks to its three drivetrain configurations which allows consumers to choose which drive configuration suits them best. The Jeep Patriot can be a front-wheel drive vehicle or an all-wheel drive one. Both configurations have the reputation of the Jeep trademark of being power efficient.

Aside from the drivetrain configurations that allow the Patriot to take on some of the harshest off-road conditions, one thing that stands out is its cutting edge sound system. The Jeep Patriot has an astounding array of sound system technologies that any music lover will surely love. The off-road vehicle is equipped with a Boston Acoustics sound system that can pump out 458 watts for the user's listening pleasure. A liftgate speaker allows for great outdoor aural experience. This cutting edge technology puts the Patriot at the top of its class when it comes to entertainment features.

Aside from the liftgate speakers, the sound system is a collection of four 6x9-inch full-range speakers on all the doors. Two 2.5-inch tweeters are also integrated into the instrument panel. Two 3.5-inch mid-range tweeters are also integrated into the swing-down liftgate panel. All of these are complemented by an eight-channel amplifier and a two-channel amplifier for the subwoofer. The sound system gives users the best sound definition that can be found in any mass produced vehicle sound system. The system is distinguished by a clear octave-to-octave tonal balance, natural frequency response, and crystal clear presentation. The Boston Acoustics sound system also features a flat frequency response in addition to all the features mentioned. Now, aside from the speaker system that is compatible with MP3 players, the vehicle is also equipped with a satellite radio which gives user the best selection of music without commercials. This can also be enjoyed through the advanced s ound system. More than 130 channels are available for Jeep Patriot owners and passengers to choose from. Aside from commercial-free music, they can also enjoy listening to play-by-play sports, news, comedy and a variety of programming for kids, women or for the whole family. Regional traffic and weather reports are also made available to drivers through the Sirius satellite radio. The factory installed satellite radio includes a one-year subscription.

Another great feature that the Patriot is equipped with is a hands-free communication system. The UConnect system allows Patriot drivers to talk hands-free while driving eliminating the hazard of driving only with one hand. The phone can be used with the onboard speaker while the controls and the microphone are integrated into the rearview mirror which adds to the convenience of the hands-free system. The UConnect system is loaded with features which make it more convenient. Voice dialing allows the drivers to call a person without having to press buttons. The system also allows Patriot owners to store up to 128 phone numbers in its Audio Address Book.

An Audio-system Mute feature is also thrown into the mix. This feature automatically mutes the radio when a call is in progress, and for private conversation, the vehicle's speakers can also be muted. Transferring calls is also permitted by the system as well as allowing as many as seven phones to be used within the Patriot system.

9 Foot Dish to 2 Foot Dish to No Dish - Satellite TV - Entertainment - Television

The 9 foot Dish: I remember when to have satellite TV, you needed a giant dish that made it look like you were a part of the space program and a special receiver. Starting prices were around $1500 to $2000 to get the equipment and have it installed. Then, you could get a lot of channels for free, but most of the "good channels" required some sort of subscription. The trouble is you would have to switch satellites to get decent programs. If your "actuator" (the gizmo that moved the dish) broke, you were out of luck. One of those cost around $150. The 2 Foot Dish: Then, the little dish came along, easier to get installed, but now you have to pay to get anything. Even if you only watch commercial TV on it, you still need to pay and the subscriptions were long term. The other problem was there were no local channels. Basic subscriptions were around $50 to $75 a month after the $300-$400 installation fee. Sometimes you have multiple subscriptions, even though you ha...

History of Satellite TV - Technology - Communication

Human imagination has the power to visualize the future, seek visionary solutions to problems, guide people to inventions that change the face of the earth, and the fate of humankind. Inventions and discoveries for centuries, motivated by inspiring ideas of a few, including the heretic science fiction stories of Jules Verne, H.G. Wells and others, have helped us to reach this stage of modern technology. Such has been the revelation of Arthur C. Clarke in his classic 'Extraterrestrial Relays', published in 1945, in which he wrote about having satellites in special orbits 22,300 miles above the equator, based on calculations done in 1928 by the astronautics pioneer Herman Potocnik Noordung, to facilitate global communication. The idea sparked and broke like fire, with the Russians coming up with the world's first satellite, Sputnik in 1957, closely followed by the Americans in early 1958.
